Tonight Kaylyn made pumpkin pancakes for our 11:00 p.m.
dinner. Then she made herself pumpkin pudding. She can’t get enough pumpkin! It
is challenging cooking in our tiny kitchen, which is composed of a sink with a
cold water pump (which she discovered had a disconnected hose when the water
drained all over her feet and the inside of the cabinets) and a two-burner gas
stove. It is a pretty confined area to cook.
That is nothing compared to the 102 Pilgrims who sailed on
the Mayflower. The ship itself is 25 feet wide and 106 feet long. To find out
how many square feet each person had
for themselves and all of their worldly possessions multiply 25 times 106, then
divide by 102.
How many square feet do Kaylyn and I have in our trailer?
The inside is 10 feet wide and 6 feet long. Multiply those and divide by two –
for Kaylyn and me. That is how many square feet we are living in.
Now how about your house? How long is it and how wide is it?
Then do you have more than one floor? (You do not need to count the attic,
basement or garage.) Now divide by how many people live in your house, and you
will see how many square feet you have per person.
