Day #1

We are off on our adventure.The odometer on our well-traveled truck read 215,679 miles at departure this afternoon. Our first day entailed sloshing through Milwaukee in pouring rain, then crawling through Chicago's Friday-evening traffic. We stopped for the night in Howe, Indiana. Kaylyn showed me how to find a motel and call it on her Droid phone. She is entertaining some hope that I will actually learn a bit of the technology on this trip. I'm resistant.

When we stopped in the pouring rain we discovered the screen from the inside of the window on Miss Marshmallow's door was gone, and the screen's frame was hanging out the door and dragging on the ground. So much for the screen. The skylight in Miss Marshmallow leaked on the bed. As we were unloading our stuff in the pouring rain for the motel room, Kaylyn commented, "We are off to an interesting start."
